Make repeated entries comparable
Decide what you are recording and use a consistent mark or unit. Separate a missed entry from a recorded result, and review the pattern before deciding what to change.
A starting point for Baking & Recipe Testing: Change one detail at a time and label the recipe version so you know which result belongs to which test.
If the explanation behind each result matters more than repeated entries, compare the journal below.
How to use it
- Choose the few things you will record for recipe versions and ingredient changes, and add them to the habit grid.
- Fill in the weekly tracker and the log tables for baking times and temperatures and taste and texture notes as you go; short entries are fine.
- Rate each week on the progress charts, including final recipe adjustments, so changes are easy to see.
- Use the monthly summary to decide what to keep, change or drop.
